Strawberries

Well, I started a blog. And I doubt I will keep up with it very well, like, at all. I am terrible when it comes to this kind of thing. However, I wanted to try it, so here I am.

First of all, I wanted to blog for several reasons:

1. I want to better stay in touch with my family across the world.

2. Blogging can be fun and I am all for things that are fun. :)

3. I want to teach people about being able to live your lives, but cheaper.  Like growing your own food, making/repurposing clothing, thrift store shopping, etc.

4. Having a blog just sounds cool.  At least it does to me.... :P

Well, now on to business!  Today as I was watering the plants in the backyard, I saw strawberries.  Really pretty ones too.  For the past month or so, it has been so hot here that the strawberries have stopped producing.  But now they started back up again!! Yay. :)

And I decided to take pictures to show you how lovely strawberries can be from your backyard (or balcony even, if that is all that you have).

Aren't they so pretty?  And for the record, this picture is not in the least bit Photoshopped.  I did use my mom's camera though - mine has terrible quality.

There are many reasons to grow your own food, but the main reason (I believe) is the nutrients.  When picked, food starts to lose its nutrients and some loose it faster than others.  In order to get the most from your produce, it is best to grow it yourself.  This means that it should come straight from the yard to the kitchen table.  And even though farmer's markets are a great choice, growing your own food is still significantly better than farmer's markets.

And it makes you happy to know that you grew it. :)

Like, significantly happy.

Anyway, I hope that you have a wonderful, happy summer day!
